About this app
FirstBite is an Android app presented under the Rook & Button brand. This policy describes version 1.0.0-rc2, package com.rookandbutton.firstbite. It has no user-account service or advertisements.
The app does not send your saved records, device identifiers, or usage information to developer-operated servers. It contains no advertising or analytics integration.
Data used on your device
Food names, notes, cooked/opened dates, user-chosen reminder dates and times, fridge/freezer/status records, event history, private photo copies, appearance settings, and reminder preferences. FirstBite uses these records to display and search your notebook, retain food-status history, schedule optional local reminders, and populate the home-screen widget. It does not calculate expiration dates, nutrition, or food safety.

Sharing and copies you choose
Photos are chosen individually through Android’s document picker and normalized into private copies; originals are untouched. You can export a ZIP backup containing records, history, and photos. It is not encrypted. Restoring a validated backup explicitly replaces current records. Receiving apps, camera apps, browsers, and document providers operate under their own policies. A provider you select may synchronize files outside your device. This app does not control those independent copies.
Storage and security
App records are held in Android app-private storage. Automatic Android cloud backup and device transfer are disabled. Protect your device with a secure screen lock and keep exported files in a location you trust. Ordinary backup files are not an encrypted vault.
Retention and deletion
Marking a food eaten or discarded retains its history. Use explicit permanent deletion when you want to remove a retained record. Clearing Android app storage or uninstalling removes private records and photos. Delete external backups, original photos, and provider copies separately.
Additional details
Optional reminders use local Android notifications. The widget shows food names outside the app. Android controls notification visibility and delivery; reminders can be delayed and force-stopping can pause them. Automatic Android cloud backup and device transfer are disabled.
Purchases and support outside the app
If this app is offered as a paid download, Google Play handles the store transaction under Google’s policies. The app does not receive payment-card details. Messages you choose to send to our support or privacy addresses are handled separately from automatic in-app data collection. Do not send passwords, payment-card numbers, or unnecessary private documents in a support request.

If you choose to email us, the studio and its email provider receive the address, message, and attachments you send. Correspondence is used to respond and keep relevant support or business records, subject to applicable retention obligations. You may request deletion of correspondence through the privacy address. We cannot retrieve or remotely erase records kept only on your device; use the deletion controls described above.

We will update this policy and its date if the app’s data practices change.
